Routes and images

Thanks Julian for your leadership and company and to Rod, Malcolm, John, Phyl, Bill, Jane, Peter and Elaine for a very enjoyable holiday

As promised, here are all the routes over the 11 days of walking - with the aid of the hikers' map and the dates shown you should be able to track down the names of all the important places we visited (i.e. all the alms).

Also, you can see below how many kilometers we walked and how much height we gained or lost.

And here are some photos.  Try clicking on an image to get a larger view.  In Windows, F11 fills the screen (F11 again to go back), Ctrl + zooms in, Ctrl - zooms out.  If you are on tablets - well, keep taking them.

Tuesday 28th July - Pilgrimage Route towards Konigsee
Every year on the Saturday after 24 August (St. Bartholomew's Day), more than 3,000 pilgrims travel over the mountains known as the Steinernes Meer (sea of rocks) from Maria Alm to the St. Bartholomew peninsula on Lake Königssee in Germany's Berchtesgadener Land region. The pilgrimage is thought to date back to 1635 when citizens of Salzburg first crossed the mountains to reach St. Bartholomew's Church as a symbol of thanksgiving to the Lord for having saved them from the plague.
